Sunshine Fans Unite!

I used to really despise sunshine fans. As an avowed Laker fan, I watched season after season during the early 90’s when the Lakers quickly faded into boring mediocrity. This was a massive hangover for basketball lovers in Los Angeles. Gone were the days of Showtime and instead we were treated to third rate “superstars” such as Sedale Threatt, Anthony Peeler, Jerome Kersey and my personal favorite Sam “Big Smoov” Perkins.

Big Smoov' loves gay people, no matter what Tim Hardaway says!
Incidentally, Big Smoov’s the only player to have ever worn a du rag in an official NBA game when he successfully lied to the game officials that it was sanctioned by the league. After halftime, they conferred with David Stern and with all things having to do with that draconian dictator, order was restored with furious anger as Smoov was summarily stripped of his headgear.
Anyway, I was always for living and dying with your team until my coworker showed me the error of my ways. His argument was that when it comes down to it, for the vast majority of teams and players, it’s all about the money. Showing no loyalty at all, players and even whole organizations will not hesitate to move to different cities in pursuit of monetary gain. Just look at Art Modell 15 years ago and how he gave a press conference on Friday promising Cleveland that he would never move the Browns, and then packing up and slinking out of town that Sunday under the cover of darkness. Or then again, was that Robert Irsay? Touche…
This leaves much room for thought, but I’m definitely going to have to reconsider my sporting allegiances.
